Real Madrid have been heavily linked with a move for the four-time Footballer of the Year but Spurs have insisted Bale is not for sale at any price, and Bale was one of a number of players used during the Monday unveiling of the new Spurs kits for next season.
Dawson, the Tottenham captain said: “Gareth is known worldwide. I’m very lucky to play with him. It hasn’t always been easy since he signed. He was out of the team, like myself, but the boy is world class.
“And if we keep bringing players in, it is only going to make us better as a squad. That is what we want to do.”
Defoe added: “It’s important that Gareth stays. This year, we want a great season and we want to get into the Champions League and to do that you’ve got to keep your best players.
“What Gareth did here last year was unbelievable when you look at the amount of goals he scored. He’s a special player. You want to keep your top players.”
Bale scored 26 goals last season as Tottenham finished fifth in the Premier League, missing out on Champions League football to Arsenal, but individually Bale claimed the Football Writers’ Player of the Year award and the PFA Players’ Player of the Year, as well as the prize from league sponsors Barclays and Tottenham’s Player of the Year too.
