Manchester United are to return to their pursuit of Everton left-back Leighton Baines, according to the Daily
United boss David Moyes is looking to reunite with Baines, who he managed at Everton for six years, in which the 28-year-old became an England international, and one of the most consistent full-backs in the Premier League.
Moyes was thought to have ended his interest in Baines after Everton Chairman Bill Kenwright confirmed that he would not sell Baines, but he may return with an improved offer after reports in Spain suggested that Roberto Martinez’ side were close to completing the signing of Siqueira.
Everton are closing in on a £4m deal for the Brazilian, who scored six goals in 36 appearances last season, although the transfer will only go through if Baines leaves the club this summer. Martinez has responded to the speculation by saying: “This is the moment of having speculation, having talks and clubs looking around, I see it as a real compliment – you don’t get that if you don’t perform well.
“We are Everton and we want to keep our best performers and we have got our own aims and that is very clear.”
