Manchester United winger Luis Nani has told of his belief that every player at the club will need to ‘prove himself’ again under new manager David Moyes, Sky
Moyes arrives after Ferguson’s enormously successful 26 year reign, and Nani, who fell slightly out-of-favour last season, has acknowledged the change that the former Everton boss has brought to the club.
He told Sky Sports News: “Of course it’s a bit different when Sir Alex leaves the club, so you can feel the change because you know how important he was for this club. The team is the same and we hope the manager comes with ideas to help us to win again.
“Of course, everyone has to prove himself because it is a different manager with different ideas. I think, after a couple of weeks, a couple of months, with the players, he will understand every personality.”
Moyes is yet to make a notable signing so far at United, with the club seeing two bids rejected by Barcelona for midfielder Cesc Fabregas, and there is considerable pressure on the 50-year-old to make an immediate impression after Ferguson’s achievements.
And Nani’s comments suggest that the change may represent a fresh start for those who have seen relatively few first-team opportunities in recent seasons.
