Former Tottenham Hotspur captain Ledley King believes Gareth Bale will remain at White Hart Lane for the foreseeable future, Sky
The retired centre-back told the broadcaster that Bale is enthusiastic about his future with Spurs and praised the Wales international for his form last season. King is also confident Bale can build on his accomplishments in the previous campaign and enjoy a similarly strong start to the new season.
“The season he had last year was a big part of our achievements, and he knows we’ll be looking to do the same this season,” King said of Bale. “ I know Gareth’s happy, he’s come back in good spirits and I’m hoping he’s going to have a good season again.”
Bale has been the subject of intense speculation, with the rumour mill consistently linking him with a switch to either La Liga giants Real Madrid or Premier League champions Manchester United. But King feels Bale is mature enough to ignore the gossip and get on with his game.
“I think you get used to it as a player,” King said, adding: “The kind of player he’s grown to be, it’s something that you have to deal with.
“He’s a good lad, he’s got a good head on his shoulders and he knows the main thing for him is just to concentrate on his football and the rest will take care of itself.”
King spent his entire career with Tottenham, making more than 300 appearances between 1998/99 and 2011/12 before a chronic knee injury forced him into retirement. King also won 21 England caps, scoring two goals.
