Lampard suffers pre-season injury set-back

Jose Mourinho and his Chelsea camp were handed an injury scare before the first game of their preseason tour to Asia. Talismanic midfielder Frank Lampard was told by his Portuguese boss to take it easy after he pulled up during the warm-up with a sore achilles tendon. The Blues have been granted a rest day in Kuala Lumpur before they play a Malaysia XI on Sunday.

The Daily Mail are reporting the squad will be back in training again on Friday following a packed training schedule, however Lampard is believed to be unlikely to feature in the more intense areas of the session. Although the English midfielder has been told to take it easy, Mourinho and his staff don’t feel that the injury is too serious and have said that these measures are just precautionary.

Lampard signed a new one year contract extension at Stamford Bridge in May and is now looking to stay fit ahead of the news season with new manager Mourinho stating that he will be looking to utilize the skills and experience of his older players in the coming campaign.
