Liverpool reject club sale rumours

It seems to be a week of ups and downs for Liverpool fans. Firstly the news that the club rejected a £40,000,001 offer from Arsenal for the services of Luis Suarez but now, according to the Daily Telegraph, owner, J.W Henry is exploring into the idea of selling the club for a whopping £350 million.

However, the Boston-based Fenway Sports Group have insisted that they have no plans to sell the Anfield club, just three years after purchasing the club from previous American owners, Tom Hicks and George Gillett, for £300 million.

A spokesman from Fenway Sports Group said: “Like so many rumours in past about a sale of Liverpool Football Club, there is absolutely no truth in this.

“We have had no meetings with anyone about a sale, we don’t know who the source of the rumour is, and any suggestion of a sale is fabrication.”

The demise of Liverpool’s superiority in Europe as well as the uncertainty over the redevelopment of Anfield are the reasons believed to be behind the potential sale of the club.
