Liverpool have received encouragement in their pursuit of Christian Eriksen after Ajax Coach Frank de Boer confirmed the Denmark midfielder could leave the club if he wished, the
De Boer insisted that he wants Eriksen to stay in Amsterdam but would not force him to do so, potentially paving the way for the playmaker to move to Anfield. “It is up to Christian what he wants,” De Boer said. “If he feels good going to Liverpool, then it is up to him. I would want nothing more than having him with us for a few more years.
“But we realise the interest in this kind of player is huge. And I can also understand that he wants to make another step in his career. I can’t stop him.”
Despite being only 21-years-old Eriksen has notched up the appearances for club and country, playing more than 150 times for Ajax, winning the Dutch league title on three occasions, and earning 36 caps for Denmark. Eriksen has also entered the final year of his current contract with the Amsterdammers.
