Manchester City are close to their latest signing of the summer, BBC
The Montenegro international will be City’s third signing of the summer and is expected to be closely followed by a fourth – Sevilla striker Alvaro Negredo. The pair will take City’s spending this summer to around the £90m mark, having already added Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fernandinho and Negredo’s Sevilla teammate, winger Jesus Navas.
City are to pay £22m for Jovetic, the BBC adds, after the 23-year-old scored 13 goals in 31 games for Fiorentina last season. Previously a target of Arsenal and Manchester United, Jovetic has 10 goals in 27 international games and will bolster City’s striking options after the Blues lost Mario Balotelli in January and Carlos Tevez this summer. The duo both moved to Italy, Balotelli to Milan and Tevez to Juventus.
Negredo, meanwhile, is a Spain international and scored 26 goals in La Liga last season. The 27-year-old previously played for Rayo Vallecano, the Real Madrid B team and Almeria, joining Sevilla in 2009.
