The 23-year-old, who will be handed the no. 35 shirt at the Etihad, joins Alvaro Negredo, Jesus Navas and Fernandinho in the new-look lineup following his £26m transfer.
The club issued a statement via their official website, mcfc.co.uk, saying: “Manchester City are delighted to announce the signing of Stevan Jovetic from Fiorentina. The 23-year-old Montenegro international will now join up with his new team-mates over the weekend.”
Jovetic had been a long-term target for City’s Premier League rivals Arsenal among others, but the Citizens swooped in to add the highly rated young striker to their ranks as they seek to regain the Premier League crown.
Jovetic spent five years at Fiorentina, having joined the club for £8m in May 2008 from Partizan. He went on to score 35 goals in 116 games, and has won 27 caps for Montenegro following his senior debut in 2007.
