Man Utd beaten by Yokohama Marinos

The Daily Mirror has reported that David Moyes has seen his Manchester United team slump to a second defeat on their pre-season tour to Japan, this time against Yokohama Marinos.

After losing their first game under Moyes against the Singha All-Star XI, the Red Devils rallied to take a convincing 5-1 win against an A-League All-Star XI before their latest run out on Tuesday saw them lose for the second time in Japan by 3-2.

Despite the efforts of local hero Shinji Kagawa and a 2-1 lead United still saw victory evade them on their third tour match. Brazilian striker Marquinhos got the game’s opener after just 27 seconds when he reacted following a fine parry from David De Gea; however United were level in the 19th minute when youngsters Wilfred Zaha and Jesse Lingard linked up to find the net.

United then took the lead when young midfielder Adnan Januzaj’s curling free-kick was unfortunately turned into his own net by Masakazu Tashiro on the half-hour mark. The hosts levelled the scoring through Fabio, namesake of the United full-back, as his back-post header beat De Gea.

With three minutes left substitute Yoshihito Fujita buried the ball past De Gea once more to give the hosts the victory. United now have two games remaining on the tour against Osaka on Friday, before travelling to face FC Kitchee of China in the finale on Monday.
