Former Manchester United defender Gerard Pique has advised his former club to give up on trying to sign Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona, Sky
United have already had one bid rejected for the former Arsenal captain but Moyes confirmed on Monday a second had been made, with Sky Sports putting the figure on offer at £30m plus add-ons.
But Pique has said that there is no chance Fabregas will move to Old Trafford so soon after getting his dream move to Catalonia. The 26-year-old left Arsenal two years ago to return to Barcelona, having left the club as a 16-year-old to move to the Gunners.
“United are wasting their time,” Pique is quoted as saying, adding: “It took a long time for Cesc to get his dream move back home and he won’t give it up.
“This is home. It is where his family is, and he is playing with his closest friends. He has told us he is happy and that he intends to stay with Barcelona.”
Pique made the reverse move in 2008, leaving United for Barcelona having also been part of the Barcelona youth set-up before decamping to England as a teenager. The centre-back has gone on to make more than 200 appearances for Barca, having played 23 times for United.
