Newcastle to make new improved Gomis offer

Desperation for fresh faces is starting to gather momentum at St James’ Park and tensions between fans and board may begin to get heated.

However, good news may just be around corner for Magpies fans after it was reported in the Daily Star that the club have upped their offer for Lyon striker, Bafetimbi Gomis.

Joe Kinnear, appointed the new director of football recently, has been charged with bringing in two new strikers to the club to support Papiss Cisse in attack.

Newcastle had made an initial £5 million-plus offer for Gomis but that was rejected by the French club, forcing the Magpies to return with a bid of almost £7 million which they hope will be enough to land their man who is out of contract next summer.

The Toon are also lining up a bid for QPR striker, Loic Remy, who turned down a move to St James’Park in January in favour of a move to Loftus Road.
