No change in Suarez says Liverpool teammate Jones

The pressure of the transfer window rumour mill is not affecting Liverpool front man Luis Suarez, according to goalkeeper Brad Jones. The Australian stopper told the Liverpool Echo that the Uruguayan striker’s relationship with his teammates has not suffered, despite Suarez’s public affection for Real Madrid.

Suarez joined up with his Liverpool teammates on Sunday after being granted a longer leave of absence after competing in the Confederations Cup. While away the 26-year-old hit man had spoken of his desire to leave Anfield for the Spanish capital.

Sky Sports are reporting that Suarez has told his agent Pere Guardiola that he wants to play in the Champions League, but the player will not look to force a move from the Reds.

Jones said though that Suarez is a big part of the squad and maintains that the player is the same man he always was: “It’s good to have Luis back, he is a bubbly character who just loves to play football. Nothing has changed with him, he is the same player we’ve been used to.

Despite the arrival of Simon Mignolet on Merseyside, Jones has not become disgruntled at the fact he may have slid further down the pecking order at Anfield, but has been impressed with their £9m man. “I’ve seen a bit of him in training, he’s looked good,” he said. Liverpool have also allowed Pepe Reina to join Napoli on loan.
