Heurelho Gomes’ agent has insisted that the goalkeeper’s former club, PSV Eindhoven, are yet to make an offer to Spurs this summer for the out-of-favour 32-year-old, Sky
Spurs signed Gomes from PSV in the summer of 2008, some months after the Brazilian helped the Dutch side to a penalty shoot-out win over Spurs in the UEFA Cup. Despite a shaky start to his career in England, Gomes remained first choice at White Hart Lane for three seasons.
Since Brad Friedel arrived in the summer of 2011, however, Gomes has found opportunities extremely limited, eventually resulting in a loan spell with Hoffenheim towards the end of last season. With one year left on his contract, Spurs may be looking to cash in.
PSV are thought to be keen on bringing Gomes back to the Philips Stadion, with the player thought to be interested in a return to Holland. Although, after four successful years between 2004 and 2008, Gomes’ agent Alex Soares has confirmed that so far, no approach has been made, explaining:
“I can confirm that we have not received any official offer or contact from PSV in relation to Heurelho’s return.
“Maybe the rumours around his move to PSV are due to his previous years at the club and the PSV fans’ wishes. I am sure that if PSV want him back, Gomes’ decision will be very easy to take.”
