No problem over Chelsea move for Suarez, says Ivanovic

Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic has said that he holds no grudges against Luis Suarez, Sky Sports has reported, with the Serb going on to describe Suarez as ‘one of the best strikers in the Premier League’, despite being bitten by the Liverpool man in April.

Suarez was given a 10-match ban for the offence during Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Chelsea at Anfield. Ivanovic has put the matter behind him, however, suggesting that he would be happy to play alongside Suarez. He said: “About Luis Suarez, I said straight after the game, whatever happened on the field finished there. He’s one of the best strikers in the Premier League. I don’t have any problem with him.

Ivanovic’s comments come in the wake of rumours linking Suarez with a move to Chelsea this summer. Suarez has publicly announced his desire to leave Anfield, which has led to considerable interest and speculation. The Uruguay international has already said that he would be tempted by Real Madrid, while Arsenal are thought to be preparing a bid in the region of £30m.

29-year-old Ivanovic has himself played down speculation regarding a transfer to Paris Saint-Germain, adding: “I’ve always said I’m happy to be here. I will do everything and will work hard to do everything for the club. Nothing will change until the last day I’m here.
