Despite looking set to join Queens Park Rangers for around £5.5m, Celtic striker Gary Hooper now appears close to a move to Norwich City, and will have a medical on Thursday, after a bid from the Canaries was accepted, Sky
Celtic have fought to keep Hooper throughout this summer, but a move has always appeared likely since his decision not to sign a new contract.
QPR had looked on the verge on signing the 25-year-old on Wednesday, with their manager Harry Redknapp admitting that he expected the deal would soon be confirmed. He said: ‘It looks like it’s on its way to being done. Negotiations have gone well.’
But Norwich, after a long pursuit, which has seen several bids rejected by Neil Lennon’s side, are now the favourites to land Hooper, who is said to have agreed a four-year contract.
Hooper joined Celtic from Scunthorpe United in the summer of 2010, after two prolific seasons in which he scored 46 goals in 89 appearances. In his three years at Parkhead, he has maintained his form, with 82 goals in 138 games and has gained Champions League experience.
