Norwich City could be set to add to their summer signings with the capture of FC Twente and Netherlands midfielder Leroy Fer, according to The
Canaries boss Chris Hughton hopes to unveil Fer as the East Anglians’ newest signing within the next 48 hours, ahead of their pre-season tour of the United States.
The deal is expected to incorporate a five-year contract for Fer, who had looked set to join Norwich’s fellow Premier League outfit Everton during the winter transfer window before the deal fell apart owing to issues with the 23-year-old’s medical.
Hughton hopes to add Fer to his already impressive transfer activity this summer, with Nathan Redmond joining from Birmingham and Martin Olsson arriving from Blackburn in the past week.
Javier Garrido moved to Carrow Road from Lazio, and club-record signing Ricky van Wolfswinkel also joined from Sporting Lisbon in a deal believed to be worth around £8.5m.
Fer has made 47 appearances for FC Twente since signing in 2011, scoring 12 goals. He had previously made 103 appearances for Feyernoord, netting 14 times.
He has also represented his native Netherlands twice, making his senior international debut in 2010.
