Norwich City have confirmed the signing of Netherlands international midfielder Leroy Fer, the
Fer was close to joining Everton in the January transfer window, the newspaper notes, but the move collapsed when the Toffees raised concerns over a past knee injury and attempted to renegotiate the terms of the transfer. Fer’s now former club, FC Twente, rejected the proposal and the move broke down shortly before the close of the winter transfer window.
But the Canaries have ploughed on with their deal for the 23-year-old, signing Fer on a four-year contract for an undisclosed fee. He is Norwich’s sixth signing of the summer after the Canaries also added goalkeeper Carlo Nash, left-back Martin Olsson, winger Nathan Redmond and Fer’s countryman, Sporting Lisbon striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel. Javier Garrido, who had been on loan at Carrow Road from Lazio, has also completed a permanent move.
