Crystal Palace have completed the signing of Spanish U-20 international central midfielder Jose Campana, from Sevilla on a four-year contract for an undisclosed fee, the Sun
Campana becomes Ian Holloway’s fourth summer acquisition this summer for the newly-promoted side, after strikers Stephen Dobbie and Dwight Gayle, and experienced winger Jerome Thomas on a free transfer, after his release by West Bromwich Albion.
He made five league appearances last season after spending several years in Sevilla’s youth academy, but was delighted to be offered the chance to play in the Premier League. He explained: ‘I got the first interest through my agent, who said that Crystal Palace were interested and straight away I said ‘yes’ because for me it was a dream to play in England, especially in the Premier League.’
The signing of Campana adds to Holloway’s midfield options, with captain Mile Jedinak, Kagisho Dikgacoi, Owen Garvan and Jonathan Williams already at his disposal. Of Campana, Holloway has said: ‘Everybody knows the way I want to try and play football and how fantastic Spain have been over the past few years, so I’m delighted to get a lad of this quality.
‘I think he’s a fantastic player, his maturity is unbelievable, and the way he plays the game is the way I believe it should be played.’
