Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has suggested the former Premier League champions will announce a new signing in the next few days, according to Sky
Pellegrini added that he did not have a name in mind but felt City could make a signing before they left their current base of South Africa, with the next 24 hours possibly bringing news of a new face.
City play two games in South Africa – Pellegrini taking charge of the club for the first time on Sunday against Supersport United in Pretoria, with Thursday seeing AmaZulu FC provide the opposition, this time in Durban. City then travel to Hong Kong to compete in the Barclays Asia trophy, meeting South China on July 24.
“We don’t know at this moment who is going to come here,” Pellegrini said. “We are trying to bring the best players into our squad. I am always open to young players, and to good players,” the Chilean continued, adding: “I don’t know if anything will happen before we leave South Africa, but maybe the next day we will have fresh news.”
City have completed two transfers so far this summer, signing Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fernandinho and Sevilla winger Jesus Navas, while selling Carlos Tevez to Juventus. Pellegrini is another new arrival at the Etihad Stadium after leaving Malaga to replace Roberto Mancini.
