Manuel Pellegrini has no intention of letting striker Edin Dzeko leave Manchester City this summer, the
Pellegrini has held talks with Dzeko, the newspaper claims, and informed Dzeko that even though City are interested in signing another striker this summer, he can expect to feature regularly in the new manager’s line-up. Dzeko had grown unsettled at featuring only sporadically under previous boss Roberto Mancini, the Telegraph notes.
“I spoke two weeks ago with Dzeko when he was on holiday and he does not have any problems,” Pellegrini said, adding: “He will stay here. For me, he’s a very important player. I’m sure that he will give this year the performances to show what he can do.”
Dzeko moved to the Etihad Stadium in the winter of 2012, joining City in a £27m deal from Bundesliga side Wolfsburg. In his time in the Premier League, he has scored 40 goals in 103 appearances. He also has 29 goals in 54 games for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team.
