Porto have announced that they are prepared to listen to offers for Ghana winger Christian Atsu, putting the likes of Liverpool, Everton and Spurs on alert, according to The
The 21-year-old is the subject of much interest from the Premier League, and with only one year remaining on his contract in Portugal it is understood that manager Paulo Fronceca could be preparing to cut his losses and part with the coveted player now rather than risk losing him for nothing next summer.
Liverpool had previously had a £3m bid for the winger turned down – a decision which effectively ended their interest.
However, with Porto’s demands now looking to be on the decrease, the Reds could move back into the picture, but boss Brendan Rodgers is keen to continue developing the club’s homegrown youth system, with Raheem Sterling and Jordon Ibe garnering growing reputations.
Merseyside rivals Everton and north Londoners Spurs also linked with a cut-price move for Atsu, meanwhile, and now seem to head the queue for his signature. With Liverpool having missed out on top target Henrikh Mkhitaryan, however, they could be tempted to bring Atsu back onto their radar.
Spurs are thought to be favourites, however, with Atsu having previously worked with boss Andre Villas-Boas during the latter’s stint in charge of Porto prior to arriving to the Premier League with Chelsea.
Atsu stated earlier this summer that he would love to move to the Premier League, stating: “My dream is to play in England and it is very nice to see my name linked with big clubs in the Premier League.
“For now, I’m focused on my football, but I see my future in England.”
