Wayne Rooney has been urged to stay at Manchester United by club legend, Paul Scholes.
The former United midfielder made his debut for the club in 1993 and went on to make over 700 appearances for the Red Devils over two separate spells at Old Trafford, following his retirement in May 2011.
Scholes told the Daily
“It’s up to Wayne – but he’s a top, top player and every player and fan wants him to stay.”
Speculation with regards to Rooney’s future is due to dominate much of the summer until a resolution between player and club has been completed, if indeed it is.
Whether Rooney does stay or not is another matter altogether, with Chelsea leading the way for his signature having had a bid turned down for the England striker last week.
Jose Mourinho is familiar with getting what he wants so Chelsea’s pursuit is likely to be ongoing.
