Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Sandro has welcomed the likely arrival of compatriot Paulinho at White Hart Lane, according to Sky
Paulinho has confirmed he is due to sign for Tottenham in a £17m move that is expected to be ratified in the near future and, if the transfer goes through without a hitch, Spurs could field an all-Brazil midfield axis of Sandro and Paulinho next season.
Sandro certainly believes his international teammate has the necessary qualities to succeed in the Premier League, telling a Brazilian newspaper that Paulinho will help improve Andre Villas-Boas’ side. “I think he has what it takes to do well here,” Sandro said to Globo Esporte.
“This is a club with a great structure. It has been fighting for the top positions in the last few years and playing in European competitions. Paulinho will certainly help us become even stronger.”
Spurs finished fifth in the table last season, narrowly missing out on a return to the Champions League, with Villas-Boas attempting this summer to close the gap on the top four. Sandro added he will do all he can to help Paulinho settle in an effort to aid the club in reaching their goals.
“I can only say ‘welcome to Tottenham, Paulinho’,” Sandro said. “I am very happy, I will try to do the same thing Gomes did when I arrived. He was very important when I came and helped me adapt. If Paulinho needs me, I will help. I welcome him.”
