Malaga have confirmed that they have signed Roque Santa Cruz from Manchester City on a permanent deal. The 31-year-old front man was on loan at the La Liga club last year, scoring eight times in 31 appearances.
The club website has also confirmed that the striker has signed a three-year-deal with the Andalusian outfit. Malaga added that Santa Cruz, who is Paraguay’s national record goal scorer with 26 strikes from 92 appearances, will travel to Germany on Thursday afternoon to meet up with the rest of the team.
Santa Cruz signed for Bayern Munich in 1999, scoring 31 goals over an eight-year stay in Germany. He then gained notoriety in England with Blackburn Rovers netting 23 in 53 appearances for the Lancashire club, before joining Manchester City in 2009 for around £18m, but only managed to find the net three times at Eastlands.
