Suarez can have more success at Liverpool than Arsenal, says Toure

Kolo Toure believes Luis Suarez can achieve greater success at current club Liverpool than Arsenal, who lodged a £30m bid for the unsettled Uruguay international, the Daily Mirror has reported.

Toure began his career in English football with the Gunners, winning the Premier League title in 2003/04 and the FA Cup in 2002/03 and 2004/05. But that 2005 triumph was Arsenal’s last trophy and Toure believes that if Suarez wants to lift silverware, he has a greater chance of doing that at Anfield than the Emirates Stadium.

Of course, if he stays he can have more chances to win trophies,” Toure said. “This club is definitely prepared – the organisation, the mentality of the players and the staff. It’s amazing.

It’s a top professional club. Luis is a great player, a fantastic player. He is a massive player for Liverpool. But it’s up to the club to decide what is best for this football club.

Toure has just joined Liverpool on a free transfer from Manchester City, where he added another league title and FA Cup medal to his collection. He added that he was shocked to be contacted by Liverpool when it became clear he was leaving City on a free transfer, and decided to move to Merseyside immediately.

I had different offers, but when I got the phone call from Liverpool, I was like, ‘Wow!’,” the 32-year-old said. “I made my decision straight away. Liverpool are not in the top four, but they have the history and the quality. They have the players, and the winning mentality as well. This club is a winning club. I want to be part of the story here and that’s why I came.
