Suarez wants Liverpool talks following Arsenal bid

The transfer saga surrounding Liverpool striker Luis Suarez looks set to rumble on, and reports coming from BBC Sport are now claiming that the Uruguayan striker has asked the Reds to let him hold talks with the Gunners.

The 26-year-old is due to speak with manager Brendon Rodgers this week and is it claimed that the striker will ask the Northern Irishman to let him speak with the club over a move to North London.

Arsenal’s £40m plus one pound offer tabled on Tuesday meant that a clause in the strikers contract was met. Meaning that the striker would have to be told of the Gunners interest in him, however the player himself see’s the clause differently and believes the offer means he can now hold talks with Arsenal.

The Reds have rejected the latest of the Gunners bids for Suarez and club owner John Henry took to Twitter to say “What do you think they are smoking over at the Emirates?” Which would suggest that the Merseysiders value the hit-man differently to Arsenal. Manager Rodgers has also had his say on the offer stating that he feels Suarez is in the same transfer bracket as his countryman Edison Cavani, who signed for Paris St-Germain for £55m earlier in the summer.
