Ashley Williams has declared himself pleased with Swansea City’s transfer business so far this summer, according to Sky
The club has signed Spaniards Jordi Amat, Jose Canas and Alejandro Pozuelo, along with Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey and striker Wilfried Bony, the latter joining for around £13m from Vitesse Arnhem. They have also secured another season-long loan for Jonathan de Guzman, who performed consistently during 2012/13.
Swansea achieved an impressive ninth place finish in the Premier League last season – despite tailing off towards the end, and won the Capital One Cup, their first major trophy. And Laudrup has looking to improve their standing further, using his knowledge of the Spanish league in particular.
And Williams is happy with the signings the Dane has made this summer and the competition they bring for places. He said: “I think we’ve got two players for every position when everyone is fit, and that is the competition you need. We have that strength now that means when you do want to make a change or you have to change it because of injury, the side does not get weakened.
“Look at the left-backs we have now and the options in central midfield – I’m glad I don’t have to pick the team.”
