Swansea confirm record Bony signing

Swansea City have finally wrapped up the deal to bring in Wilfred Bony from Dutch outfit Vitesse Arnhem for a club record £12m, subject to work permit clearance.

The Ivorian has signed a four year deal with the Swans after passing a medical at the clubs pre-season training camp in Holland. “”This deal has been talked about for some time, so I’m delighted that it is all completed,” Bony told the official Swansea website.

Bony was a prolific hit man in the Eredivisie with Vitesse, scoring 31 goals in 30 appearances, performances which earned him not only the league’s golden boot award but the Dutch league’s player of the year accolade.

The 24-year-old’s free scoring form also meant Vitesse finished in fourth position meaning that they will feature in next season’s third qualifying round of the Europa League alongside the Swans.

After signing for Sparta Prague in 2010 from his boyhood side in Ivory Coast, Bony helped the Czech Republic based club to the league title before Vitesse paid £3m for his services. He then became the club’s top goal scorer with 12 goals from 28 appearances before his exploits last season earned him his latest move.
