Swansea to seal record Bony deal

Swansea City are close to agreeing a club record transfer for Vitesse Arnhem striker Wilfried Bony, Sky Sports has reported.

Swans chairman Huw Jenkins has been quoted in the Dutch press as confirming the Welsh club expect to have the Ivory Coast international on board by Monday afternoon, claiming there are only a few small points to be agreed upon with the player’s agent.

Swansea are currently undergoing pre-season training in the Netherlands and have been speaking with Vitesse throughout their time in the country. When the deal is finalised Bony will join up with his new teammates for their pre-season programme in the county.

Jenkins is quoted in De Telegraaf as saying: “Until it is signed we cannot speak about an agreement, but there are only a few details now.

We want done by lunchtime [on Monday] or so. We have the last few details to sort with his representative, but that won’t be a problem. He will have his medical in Holland before joining up with the team.

Swansea are expected to pay £13.7m for Bony, who joined Vitesse in January 2011 from Sparta Prague. In his two-and-a-half years at the club Bony, 24, has scored 53 goals in 73 games.
