Yaya Toure has revealed he has been impressed by what he has seen of his new Manchester City teammates, the
The Mirror puts the amount spent by City on four players – Fernandinho, Jesus Navas, Alvaro Negredo and Stevan Jovetic – at over £90m with still more than a month of the transfer window to go. And Toure has welcomed his new colleagues, praising the ability they have shown thus far in training and pre-season friendlies.
“It’s very good to see,” Toure said. “They’re unbelievable players. They play with their national teams – Negredo, Navas and Fernandinho – and Jovetic is a great young talent, he’s got a fantastic future ahead of him.
“I’m glad all these players have come to the club because we need it and hope this season is going to be fine for us.
“The club want to improve in every aspect and I hope this season is going to be good for us because we know we have a great challenge against Chelsea, Arsenal, [Manchester] United, Tottenham and Liverpool,” Toure added.
City were runners-up to United last season and reached the final of the FA Cup, losing to Wigan Athletic, as Roberto Mancini was sacked for, in part, failing to win a trophy, with Manuel Pellegrini hired from Malaga as his replacement. And the new boss has worked his squad hard already this summer, Toure revealed.
“We’ve been having two or three training sessions a day sometimes and we’re concentrating very hard,” the former Barcelona player said. “We want to win and we want to play well this year. But to do that we know we have to work hard. With the likes of Jose Mourinho going back to Chelsea, we know it’s going to be very hard this year,” Toure continued.
