Chelsea’s defensive midfielder John Obi Mikel has admitted that he is unsure as to whether he will be at the club for much longer, according to Goal.com.
Despite having four years still to run on his contract, Mikel has said that his future remains uncertain, admitting to Sky Sports: “I have a four-year contract with Chelsea, but you know, in football you can never guess, one day you are here, the next day you might leave.”
Mikel has been a regular member of the Chelsea first-team throughout his seven years at the club, making 38 appearances last season, helping to win the Europa League. Despite making 182 league appearances with Chelsea, the 26-year-old has yet to score, only finding the net in the FA Cup.
Chelsea are thought to be tracking other midfielders who may take Mikel’s place, including Vitesse Arnhem’s Marco van Ginkel, who has been heavily linked, and Daniele De Rossi, who is expected to leave Roma this summer.
