Walker wants good Spurs pre-season to provide momentum and stamina

Kyle Walker believes that Spurs’ pre-season preparations thus far have set the club up for a positive season, according to TheFA.com.

The former Sheffield United defender was part of the squad that narrowly missed out on Champions League qualification at the end of last season, but he hopes that a good performance in pre-season games will provide a springboard for the club to gain some momentum in achieving their targets this season.

He believes Spurs’ preparations have helped him feel stronger and stronger ahead of the new campaign, and also states that a fit squad will continue to perform ahead of those with less stamina, giving the side an advantage at the latter stages of the season.

He said: “It’s been good so far, we’ve been having double-sessions so there hasn’t been much time at home. Hopefully it will pay off though, from the start of next month to the back-end of the season.

“If other teams might be tired later in the season, I still want to be flying up and down the wing. You just have to keep your head down and working hard because it will pay off in the long run.”
