Arsenal have made an offer for Omar Abdulrahman, a highly-rated attacking midfielder currently playing for United Emirates side Al Ain, the Daily
Abdulrahman began attracting attention after his performances for the UAE during the 2012 Olympics, and Al Ain’s chairman has said that several European clubs had made offers, but the final decision will eventually be down to the player.
Rashid bin Mubarak Al Hajri told reporters: “Have we had an offer from Arsenal for him to come to train? Yes. We’ve also had offers from Spanish teams, and other teams also, but the player will decide ultimately.
“We [have received] a lot of offers for Omar. If he finds the right environment, then we will be very supportive. It’s a package that will have to be right, where he can improve his football. I’ll leave that for Omar – that’s for him to decide.”
The Gunners have made just one signing this summer, that of striker Yaya Sanogo from Auxerre, as they experience frustrations in their pursuit of other transfer targets, including Liverpool striker Luis Suarez.
Abdulrahman has 16 caps for the UAE, and has scored four goals.
