Arsenal prepared to smash wage structure for Liverpool’s Suarez as Spurs enter the fray

Arsenal could be set to smash their wage structure in order to land top target Luis Suarez, and The Metro is reporting that a four year contract worth about £160k per week is on the table for the Uruguayan international.

The club’s current highest earners, Lukas Podolski and Theo Walcott, each earn around £100k per week but it appears likely that the Gunners would make an exception if it means signing a player of Suarez’s calibre.

The Mirror, meanwhile, is reporting that Tottenham could be preparing a swoop for the Liverpool forward once the Gareth Bale transfer saga is over.

Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas is said to be growing increasingly frustrated with the situation surrounding Bale, who has been the subject of a world record £86m bid from Real Madrid – though chairman Daniel Levy is holding out for £100m.

This means that Villas-Boas is unable to get any concrete work done in terms of replacing the Welsh winger, but once the deal is done and assuming Suarez remains at Anfield at that time it is thought that the Portuguese could make a sensational move to tempt the Uruguayan to White Hart Lane rather than see him joining their north London rivals Arsenal.
