Jose Mourinho makes his return to English football this weekend as his Chelsea take on newly promoted Hull City Tigers.
Mourinho has made no secret of his desire to sign Wayne Rooney this summer, but has seen two bids for the England international rejected. As it stands, Chelsea have only brought in Andre Schlurre, Mark Schwarzer and Marco Van Ginkel – not the transfer merry go round fans have come to know in recent years. What will be interesting to see is who the Special One favours as his main striker, with Torres still struggling and Romelu Lukaku continuing to impress during pre-season.
Hull have brought in no less than 10 new faces to the KC Stadium as Steve Bruce bids to keep Hull heads above relegation waters this season. Danny Graham and Yannick Sagbo will add firepower to their ranks, while Tottenham duo Tom Huddlestone and Jake Livermore will add passing range and solidity to the midfield. Hull will have to make their home their fotress this season if they are to be competitive and stay up.
Chelsea have no fresh injury concerns for their first game of the season and it will be interesting to see who lines up at Stamford Bridge.
Stephen Quinn is Hull’s only injured player, suffering from a hamstring injury. Bruce will have a near fully fit squad to pick from.
