Eto’o keen on reunion with Mourinho at Chelsea

Anzhi Makhachkala forward Samuel Eto’o has revealed he would like to play under Jose Mourinho again, Sky Sports has reported, potentially paving the way for a move to Chelsea.

The pair were together at Serie A side Inter, winning the Champions League in 2010 as well as two league titles, before Mourinho joined Real Madrid and Eto’o transferred to Russia. But now Anzhi are undergoing serious financial problems Eto’o has been linked with a move away from the club, and admits he would love to join up with Mourinho once more.

There is only one Jose Mourinho,” Eto’o said. “I have played under a lot of great coaches – but there is no other character in the game like Jose.

He is one of the best coaches in the world – and we had a lot of success together at Inter Milan. I would like to have the chance to play under him again – because it is never boring when Jose is around.

Mourinho is understood to be searching for a striker to bolster his Chelsea squad, having had a number of offers rejected for Manchester United’s England international Wayne Rooney. United have insisted Rooney is not for sale and if Mourinho was to turn his attention to Eto’o, it appears from the Cameroonian’s comments he could have found his man.

Eto’o said: “Of course Chelsea are a great team – and when we have all the offers on the table then I will discuss with my agent and see what my next step is.

The 32-year-old started his professional career at Real Madrid but never broke in to the first team at the Santiago Bernabeu, eventually coming to prominence after a switch to Mallorca. From there he joined Barcelona, winning three La Liga titles and his first Champions League, before spending two years in Italy prior to his switch to Russia.
