Lyon winger Yoann Gourcuff would be prepared to accept a pay cut in order to move to the Premier League and join Arsenal this summer, ESPN
Gourcuff has been one of the higher earners in Ligue 1 his three seasons at Lyon but his performances have been largely disappointing, leading to Lyon to consider selling, with the Gunners, Atletico Madrid and Monaco all monitoring the situation.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has ruled out a loan move to another French club, saying: “Can you see us paying part of his salary for him to play against us with another French club? We’ve never considered that and it would even more stupid now than it was a fortnight ago. All that I know, if I understood correctly, is that he was ready to lower his salary to go to Arsenal, but that’s not the same thing.”
France international Gourcuff is reportedly keen on the move to Arsenal, although Aulas did say his contract, which has two years still to run, could still be extended.
Arsene Wenger is yet to make any significant signings this summer, despite having money available to spend. Yaya Sanogo, 20, remains his only capture thus far.
