Jol confirms Taarabt close to Fulham loan move

Queens Park Rangers midfielder Adel Taarabt is a medical away from returning to the Premier League with Fulham, ESPN has reported. Cottagers manager Martin Jol confirmed the proposed transfer after his side drew with La Liga outfit Real Betis.

Jol previously worked with Taarabt at Tottenham Hotspur, although the playmaker was a teenager when he moved to White Hart Lane. Taarabt subsequently left Spurs for QPR and blossomed, being named club captain as he inspired the club to promotion. He could not prevent relegation last season, however, and Jol has confirmed he has offered his former charge a return to the top flight.

We have agreed everything with the club. The only thing is the medical. If that is sound and good then he will join us,” Jol said. “I like his creativity and, of course, sometimes it comes off when he scores a lot of goals and I think he was involved in 40 goals [during the 2010/11 Championship promotion season].

Jol added that he is not concerned at the prospect of having a number of so-called luxury players in his side, feeling he can find a way to get the attacking talent available to play together. “ It is like Dimitar Berbatov – sometimes these fantastic talents will be blamed but I hope to find a way to gel him in together with the boys we’ve got,” he said.

The Dutchman added that he has attempted to sign Taarabt a number of times before – both when he was in charge at Hamburg and Ajax – but had never been able to close the deal until now.
