Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has claimed that he has the strongest squad in the Premier League at his disposal, according to Sky
Midfielder Fernandinho, winger Jesus Navas and strikers Stevan Jovetic and Alvaro Negredo have all arrived at the Etihad Stadium this summer, while Manchester United and Arsenal have struggled to recruit any big names, and Chelsea have made only two signings.
Currently, the only area of Pellegrini’s squad that looks slightly vulnerable is in defence, with only captain Vincent Kompany, Joleon Lescott, and forgotten man Dedryck Boyata available, after Matija Nastasic sustained an injury during pre-season.
And ahead of his attempt to lead Man City to a second Premier League title in three years, Pellegrini believes the club is very well equipped to do so. He said: “I think we have the best squad in England. We bought four important players, we already had a very good team and with these four players I think we improved a lot.
“We hope that from the first match against Newcastle at home (on August 19) we will start winning, and we will try to bring another trophy here.”
