Wilfried Zaha’s performances since joining Manchester United this summer have caught the eye of manager David Moyes, Sky
He impressed during the Red Devil’s pre-season tour of Asia and was rewarded with a start at Wembley in the Community Shield, where he looked threatening before being substituted in the second-half due to a minor injury.
And after the 2-0 victory over Wigan Athletic, Moyes praised Zaha. He said: “He got an injury just at the [second] goal. I think this is what’s going to happen. This is a boy that’s come right out of the Championship, he’s done well in the pre-season games and we felt it was right that he got an opportunity.
“He’s going to develop but he’ll be a bit up and down, but it was a great opportunity for him to get on the pitch for Manchester United. I’m really looking forward to working with him and improving him and I’m sure we’ll use him as the season goes on. He’s a young boy. I think he’ll be all right for England. I really don’t know what the injury was that he came off with.”
Zaha was originally signed by Sir Alex Ferguson in January for £15m but was allowed to finish the season with Crystal Palace. He scored eight goals, including two in the play-offs, helping the Eagles to the Premier League. He also earned a single England cap, against Sweden in November, and is in the squad to play Scotland on Wednesday.
