Man Utd midfielder Fletcher unsure of return date

Darren Fletcher still does not know when he might return to action, Sky Sports has reported, with the Manchester United midfielder having missed much of the last two seasons due to being diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in November 2011.

During his time on the sidelines, Fletcher has undergone a number of operations, and has been placed on a dietary regime. He did briefly return last season, making 13 appearances for club and country, scoring one goal, in the Premier League against Sunderland.

The 29-year-old Scot will miss the start of the new season, and he is unsure on when he might make his comeback. He said: “I’m still in the hands of the surgeons at the moment – I’ve not actually started training yet. I don’t have a timescale for when I will be back playing really. Hopefully it is not going to be too far away in the distant future.

I just need to be patient. After all I’ve gone through I think it’s important that I’m patient. If it means a few extra weeks to get myself right, then so be it.
