Manchester United are to make an improved offer of £20m for Everton attacking midfielder Marouane Fellaini, for whom they had a £16m bid angrily rejected last week, according to the Daily
Last Monday’s offer of £28m also included £12m for Toffees left-back Leighton Baines, but now Man Utd manager David Moyes believes that his former club are more willing to allow the sale of the Belgian as an individual transfer.
The saga has sparked a war of words between the two clubs, after Everton described the Red Devils’ initial bid as ‘derisory’. While Fellaini has played the full 90 minutes in both of Everton’s opening two Premier League matches, he has reportedly told them that he would like to reunite with Moyes at Old Trafford.
With just a week to go until the transfer deadline, Moyes is still to make a significant signing since taking over from Sir Alex Ferguson at the beginning of the summer, although there has long been speculation over his desire to bring Baines and Fellaini with him to Manchester.
The Scot brought Fellaini to Merseyside from Standard Liege in the summer of 2008, and the 25-year-old has scored 32 in 175 appearances in all competitions.
