Mourinho indicated his Chelsea return to Essien

According to the Belfast Telegraph, as midfielder Michael Essien celebrated scoring a goal in the last match of his season-long loan with Real Madrid, manager Jose Mourinho informed him of his return to manage Chelsea.

Essien returned to Chelsea this summer after scoring two goals in 35 appearances for Real, including the strike against Osasuna on June 1, and the Ghanaian has now revealed in his blog on the Blues’ official website, that Mourinho indicated during his celebration that the two of them would both be at Chelsea for 2013-14.

The 30-year-old wrote: “When I scored my last goal for Real Madrid on the last day of the season, I ran over to celebrate with him and was expecting him to congratulate me when I hugged him. Instead he leaned over and said: ‘See you at pre-season training on July 8’. I found that so funny.

“We are now back together where we belong and where we had so many beautiful years together and I hope we can recreate those magical years.”

Mourinho brought Essien to Chelsea from Lyon in 2005, during the Portuguese manager’s first spell at the club, where the West Londoners won two Premier League titles, an FA Cup, two League Cups, and a Community Shield. And Mourinho’s return as boss was duly confirmed on June 3, shortly after he left Real Madrid.
