Mourinho will quit if he fails at Chelsea

Jose Mourinho has said he will quit Chelsea if he is not a success in his second appointment, according to ITV.

Mourinho returned to Chelsea at the end of last season after leaving Real Madrid, replacing interim manager Rafael Benitez almost six years after he and the Blues parted ways. In that time Mourinho was won Serie A with Inter, also claiming the Champions League, and La Liga with Madrid, but insists he will walk away from Stamford Bridge if he does not succeed this time around.

The Portuguese said: “I’m not the kind of person to be at the same club three, four years without winning a trophy. In this case, I don’t need the club to say ‘we’re not happy with you, goodbye’.

I will be the first one to say: ‘I gave everything I could, but I didn’t succeed, so let’s go and try a different thing’.

Mourinho won the Premier League title twice in his first spell with Chelsea, coming to prominence first with Porto, where he won the Champions League in 2004. And Mourinho says it is the club’s trophy haul by which he should be judged. “Of course it’s about winning trophies,” he added. “My DNA didn’t change, my nature didn’t change.
