Ahead of the meeting between his Manchester United side and Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea, David Moyes has said that Mourinho would have been a good fit at Old Trafford if he had been chosen to replace Sir Alex Ferguson, reports the Daily
Ferguson had role in the decision to appoint Moyes as his successor back in May, but Mourinho was touted as a possible replacement before he agreed to return to Chelsea for a second spell as boss following his departure from Real Madrid.
And Moyes would not have been against Mourinho taking the job that he now occupies. Responding to the suggestion that Mourinho might have been in line to take the Man Utd job, he said: “And quite rightly so. He was probably of the young, modern managers, if you want to put it that way, the best. So he would quite rightly be entitled to be attracting top jobs.”
During his managerial career, Mourinho has enjoyed great success, winning the title in Portugal, England, Italy and Spain, along with numerous cup competitions including the Champions League with two different clubs.
Moyes spent 11 years as manager of Everton, helping them to an FA Cup final, and establishing them as a top-half club that challenged for a European place.
