Premier League clubs face tricky Capital One Cup ties

The draw for the second round of the Capital One Cup has been made and the included Premier League clubs have been handed potential banana skins galore, the first of which sees Liverpool host Notts County, while Morecambe will make history as they face Newcastle for the first time.

The Daily Mirror are reporting that Liverpool last met County at Anfield in the 1991/92 season, where the Reds took a 4-0 victory. Morecambe have been handed their historic tie after they came out 1-0 winners at their Globe Arena against Wolves in the first round.

Elsewhere in the draw Everton will host Stevenage, while Aston Villa face Rotherham and West Ham will play Cheltenham. In addition to this Stoke have been draw in an all Midlands affair as they play hosts to Walsall. This draw meant that if the Saddlers hadn’t progressed Stoke would have played local rivals Port Vale, who Walsall managed to overcome in the first round of the competition.

Other fixtures include Fulham travelling to Burton Albion and newly promoted Hull facing Leyton Orient. Norwich are up against Bury and West Brom will play the lowest ranked side still in the competition, as they host Newport County.
