Ronaldo war of words played down by Chelsea boss Mourinho

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has played down an ongoing war of words with Real Madrid winger Cristiano Ronaldo, Sky Sports has reported, in the wake of a friendly between the two sides in Miami.

Ronaldo scored twice as Real triumphed by three goals to one on Thursday morning, and when questioned about his relationship with his fellow countryman after the match, Mourinho said: “You know the declarations against Cristiano is your movie not my movie. It’s not my movie.

I just tried to identify the person, I just told the true Ronaldo in relation to the Brazilian one. If someone told me Thomas Muller and Gerd Muller, for me, the real man is Gerd Muller because he is the first one. And I’m not saying anything against the new kid in Bayern.

Mourinho managed the 28-year-old for three seasons at the Bernabeu, before he returned to Chelsea this summer. And despite Ronaldo scoring some 168 goals for Real during that period, last year Mourinho claimed that: “Maybe [Ronaldo] thinks that he knows everything and that the coach cannot improve him anymore,” which triggered the spat.
