Wayne Rooney will officially hand in a transfer request to Man United this week, reports The
The England striker has been the subject of much transfer discussion for much of 2013, but it is believed that he will take the plunge and finally make his desire to leave official by submitting the request in writing this week.
The Mirror believes that Rooney sees his future under Jose Mourinho at Chelsea, and that the 27-year-old feels that his time at United has come to an end after nine successful years at the club – a sentiment thought to be shared by the majority of the Old Trafford locker room.
While Chelsea remain interested in the forward, and appear to be preparing a second approach according to The Daily Mail, United still wish to ideally sell Rooney abroad should he definitely decide to leave.
With Rooney being clearly ousted by Robin van Persie as manager David Moyes’ first choice attacker, Rooney wants a guarantee of first team football in his preferred role in the middle of the strikeforce. While Moyes can not provide those guarantees, it is believed to be something that Mourinho would personally promise in order to get his man.
