Suarez could make Liverpool return against Man Utd in League Cup

Luis Suarez is in line to make his return from suspension against Manchester United after Liverpool were sent to Old Trafford by the draw for the next round of the Capital One Cup, ESPN has reported.

Suarez has missed the start of the season as a result of the 10-game ban he received for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic in April, but his suspension will be up the week of September 23, with the League Cup fixtures to be played on the 24th and 25th of the month.

The Uruguay international was previously handed a hefty ban for racially abusing United defender Patrice Evra in a 1-1 draw between the sides at Anfield in October 2011.

Liverpool needed extra time to book their place in the competitions third round, giving up a two-goal lead against Notts County, only to score twice in the additional period. United have yet to compete in the tournament by virtue of their involvement in European football, while ESPN points out it will be the third meeting between the sides in the League Cup, and the first since October 1990.
